Commitment to Sustainability

In alignment with our core values, we recognize the importance of being open, transparent and honest about our sustainability progress. For filings such as our Management's Discussion & Analysis, Annual Report, Management Proxy Circular and others, please visit ATCO?s and Canadian Utilities Limited?s (including CU Inc.) respective Documents & Filings pages.

Sustainability Reporting

ATCO reports on its sustainability performance annually. Our reporting is based on the internationally recognized Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and is guided by the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the Financial Stability Board?s Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations.

Sustainability Governance

Effective corporate governance stewards the interests of our employees, share owners, and Indigenous and community partners over the near-, medium- and long-term, providing review and oversight of corporate strategies and executive decisions. We regularly evaluate our governance practices to ensure they are aligned with the highest standards for assessing sustainability and climate-related issues. At ATCO, we have a unique and effective system of corporate governance that recognizes the need to provide autonomy and flexibility to our different businesses, while accommodating the needs of both our regulated and non-regulated businesses. For more information on Board oversight and the role of management in regard to sustainability at ATCO, overall corporate governance, and relevant policies and documents, please see:

Materiality Assessment

We complete materiality assessments on a regular basis to ensure our sustainability reporting is focused on the environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics that are most material to our stakeholders and our business.

In 2020, we worked with an external consultant to conduct a comprehensive review of our material topics. We plan on updating the materiality assessment in 2023. For more information on ATCO?s materiality assessment process and results, please see:

Stakeholder Engagement

Authentic engagement is an essential part of how we do business and is integrated across our operations, including project-specific engagement and relationship building. We seek partners who share our values and standards of conduct, while at the same time respecting and encouraging a diversity of perspectives. To learn more, please see:
